LION’S MANE COUNTERTOP KIT INSTRUCTIONS

LET’S GET GROWING!

Follow these simple steps to grow gourmet mushrooms in your Lion’s Mane Countertop Kit.

1. Find an area with indirect sunlight and good airflow to set up.

2. Place the grow block in the green tray with the folded side down. Do not remove the block from the bag.

3. Use a sharp, clean knife to cut a 1 1/2 inch long “X” in the center of the bag. Let the blade sink about 1/4 inches into the grow block.

4. Gently lift the flaps created by the “X” and spray underneath 1-2 times on each side. Mist the inside of the humidity dome so that it is completely covered in condensation.

5. Continue to mist the inside of the humidity dome 2-3 times daily. Make sure to spray the dome generously.

6. Your Lion’s Mane should begin growing (pinning) within 12-20 days. Once they pin, turn the lid 90 degrees so it sits perpendicular to the grow tray. This will help to maintain the humidity and fresh air exchange (FAE) required to grow Lion’s Mane successfully. Continue to mist the dome 2-3x daily.

7. Most mushrooms will be ready for harvest 5-10 days after they begin growing. Lion’s Mane is ready for harvest once the spines are elongated to about 1/4 inch. Once they begin growing, they grow quickly so keep an eye.

8. To harvest, gently twist from the mushroom’s base to harvest. It is recommended to harvest your mushrooms early if they are inside, before they start dropping spores. Letting mushrooms grow to the sporulating stage can create a mess and an allergen situation.

Oftentimes you can successfully grow a second (and third!) harvest from the same spot as your initial harvest. After harvest, began again from step #5. You can also try flipping the bag over and restarting the process from the opposite side.

  • Oyster varieties are ready to harvest when the cap edge’s start to uncurl.

Chestnuts are ready to harvest when the caps begin to flatten but are stil rounded.
